Kuala Lumpur, 26 August 2025 – The atmosphere at the very first OMODA I JAECOO Technical Skills Competition was akin to an arena of champions. Sowing a shared culture of excellence, the OMODA I JAECOO skills competition engaged over 132 technical specialists across 48 dealerships in Malaysia. The competition culminated in a finale to remember, when 10 finalists went head-to-head to clinch a podium finish and the subsequent bragging rights.

After an intense finale, Wong Sau Seng from Gagner Auto Sdn Bhd clinched the coveted National Champion title, emerging as the most well-rounded technical ace. On his achievement, Wong said, "This was made possible by the strong support from my company and the guidance of my manager and superior, who encouraged me to keep improving myself."
"It's a great honour and I feel truly proud to now represent Malaysia at the global level, showcasing our skills and commitment to excellence," he added. He was joined by first runner-up, Ng Chen Ton from CarShen Sdn Bhd and second runner-up Syasya Mazdiana Binti Nor Azman from Anggerik Auto Sdn Bhd.

Wong will also earn the chance to represent Malaysia in the OMODA | JAECOO World Skills Competition in China this October.
Syasya Mazdiana Binti Nor Azman, proved to be a formidable contender as the sole female technician in the finale. She is a testament to the diversity and the celebration of excellence and gender equality within the OMODA I JAECOO network.
On her third-place finish, Syasya shared, "Being the only female technician in the finale is an honour that shows women can stand equal with men in the technical field. Never doubt your potential. The field may be challenging, but every challenge is an opportunity to prove yourself. Believe in yourself, keep learning, and be brave to step forward — the automotive world needs more great women."

Photo 4: Competitors were judged on 30% theory and 70% practical assessments of product knowledge, diagnostics, and service efficiency.
Competitors were evaluated individually based on theory and practical assessments. The theory assessment, which made up 30% of the evaluation score, showcased each technician's degree of understanding of OMODA I JAECOO product knowledge, diagnostics, and the service process.
The practical assessment, which accounted for 70% of the evaluation score, saw technicians at the work bays demonstrate real-world troubleshooting as well as repair work quality and efficiency.
The 2025 OMODA I JAECOO Skills Competition panel of judges comprised highly experienced members from the Chery Malaysia Technical team. Backed by world-class expertise from both the technical support team and master trainers, the judging panel evaluated competitors on key performance areas namely accuracy, diagnostic processes, repair quality, and time management. The inaugural skills competition took place at OMODA I JAECOO authorised dealer, D Champion Auto Sdn Bhd located in Klang.
